First off I want to thank all that have sent messages of encouragement!
I have good news, bad news, and more of wait and see, The Dr. called Thurs. with the bad news that the mass/tumor on my vocal cord(fold) was cancer and needed me to get in and see the specialist Fri.(today). They looked at my vocal folds today and couldn't believe how good they looked compared with last Tues. (they took pictures). The Dr. removed most of the tumor when he did the biopsy but not all to prevent damage to the vocal fold.
The Dr.s were very upbeat about the recovery from this, basically six(6) weeks of radiation five(5) days a week and a little bit of recovery from the radiation and I should be back to normal.
This is going to be very hard on the clubs I teach for as class just got underway for three of the clubs. I will not be able to call for two(2) to three(3) months. I will also have to find replacements for a lot of Fri. and Sat. night dances and one(1) festival.
A lot of you have asked if we have insurance and the answer is yes, we have Kaiser. The hard part will be no pay check for a couple of months but we have some in the savings and of course Gail has a good job, so we will be fine.
So if all goes well I will be back on stage by Dec. looking forward to a lot of smiling faces.
