Hi Lynn,

Here is the latest on Ramon.  Joyce informed our class on Monday, and we are waiting for information on his service.  He was the nicest man, and we will all miss him.

Subject: Sad news - Ramon Villagran has died

 

I am sorry to report the sad news that Ramon Villagran died on July 27, 2007.  Ramon was a long-time advanced round dancer, challenge level square dancer and a clogger as well.  He was a fine dancer and an even finer friend.  Any dance that Ramon attended was always more fun when he was there.

 

I spoke to Joyce Mansnerus this evening about Ramon.  She said that Ramon had been suffering from a lung ailment for a number of years.  Ramon and his wife Maureen had been on an extended vacation in Georgia and were visiting her daughter when he took ill.  He was in the hospital for a week or so in Georgia and did not recover.  Joyce had spoken to Ramon while he was in the hospital.  In his usual upbeat manner, he assured Joyce that he was recovering and looked forward to getting out of the hospital soon.

 

Maureen is still in Georgia with her family.  Joyce said that Maureen will be having a memorial service for Ramon after she returns from Georgia (I am a bit unclear on a proposed date for the service).

 

I will be out of town on vacation from August 8-18 so I won't be able to provide any further information on Ramon's memorial service for the next ten days.  As that information becomes available, I'm sure it will be passed to Ramon's many dance friends.
